Flights to Mahon - Menorca

Best Value Menorca Flights.

We've flown from both Heathrow to Mahon and Gatwick to Mahon. Unfortunately at both UK airports we've been treated like cattle and frankly this is not going to change with increased security and cost cutting by all the airlines.

If we can presume to give any advice at all, we've tended to take the earliest possible flight as this at least takes away the potential for traffic problems getting to either Gatwick of Heathrow. Plus, arriving at about 09:00 Menorca time still gives you what feels like a full day - even if you are a little tired and just want to relax by the pool or on the beach. What else would you do on the first day anyway?

If we lived in another part of the country, we'd definitely fly from a smaller airport, as the tendency for airport staff to treat travellers like human beings seems to increase in direct proportion to the reduction in passenger numbers. Not unreasonably I suppose! My personal preference would be Bristol, as I have flown from Bristol to Spain several times and thoroughly enjoyed the airport experience every time, from the closeness of the long stay car park to the terminal building, to the pleasantness of the staff and speed of check in and boarding. Restaurant facilities are a little sparse, but it's a price worth paying in my view.

From talking to other holidaymakers whilst in Menorca, we've heard good reports of both Manchester Mahon and Birmingham Mahon services.

Mahon airport is quite small, but very well appointed, air conditioned and modern. We usually hire a car from Meno Cars and they have a great arrangement for leaving the car across the road from the check in area, so I just drop the family, drive round about 400 yards to the car park and then cut across on foot back to the terminal building, by which time the family are well advanced towards the check in desk! Usually the walk takes just under 5 minutes - it's that close!
